Acosta to co-host weekly radio program on criminal justice system
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 20 – State Rep. Leslie Acosta, D-Phila., will co-host a new weekly radio show Thursdays 11 a.m. to noon on WTTM, 1680 AM.
“Voices from the Inside” will focus on the criminal justice system, including ways to improve fairness, enact sentencing reforms and enhance mental health treatment for those needing help. It will also feature interviews with Pennsylvania inmates about their experiences in the system.
“Our overcrowded prison system isn’t just a problem in Pennsylvania,” Acosta said. “It’s a national epidemic. We have so many people going to prison for minor offenses, and many of these citizens could benefit from rehabilitation instead. I want to further the conversation about what needs to be done to make our prisons more cost-effective and humane, and to better education so we keep people out of the system in the first place.”
Acosta will be joined by co-hosts Esteban Cabrera, Hugh Taft-Morales and, beginning next week, state Rep. Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware and state Rep. Donna Bullock, D-Phila.
Though the program will be broadcast on a Spanish-speaking station, it will be conducted in English. People can listen to the live broadcast online by visiting www.radiowtt1680.com/index.htm and clicking on “Listen Live” at the left of the page.
